Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom

I wanted to make a post about the books I rated 5 stars within the past year, however, after looking back I found that these two books were the only two that I had given 5 stars. In previous years I had given 5 stars to any book that I remotely liked. But in 2019 I decided that I wanted 5 stars to be given only to the books that really made me say wow. Ultimately it came down to these two books Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo.
In both of these books we follow a book out outcasts in the Grishaverse under the leadership of convict Kaz Brekker who is definitely a contender for my favorite characters of all time. In each book they complete heists that could potentially put themselves in danger. The books contain action, romance, suspense, comedy, and friendship, what's not to love? The characters are extremely likeable, which is one of my main focuses when reading a book, and the plot is so intriguing you won't want to put them down!
While everyone has been saying that their favorite of the duology is Crooked Kingdom, I would have to disagree. Six of Crows for me was an easy one day read despite the length of the book itself. I found it completely taking up my mind and when I wasn't reading, I wanted to be. Though I loved Crooked Kingdom also, I think Six of Crows takes the top spot for me. I loved both of these novels so much that they are on my list of all time favorites now. Eventually I would love to reread this series, maybe when my TBR goes down. I feel that it is a series where you could read it over and over and always find something new. If this books remotely seems interesting to you, please give it a read and you will fall in love with it. This series is also coming out as a Netflix adaptation but withe elements of Shadow and Bone in it as well, so I would definitely recommend reading before it comes out on Netflix.
