Every time fall comes around, I am always looking for new books that I can sit by a fireplace for hours with. I have been on the hunt for some books that will make me feel ready for the Halloween season or even get me ready for the colder weather in general. With that being said here are 5 books that will surely make you feel ready for the fall.
1.The Cellar by Natasha Preston

This haunting book follows the lead character, Summer along with three other girls, as she attempts to escape the control of her captor. While it was not my absolute favorite I still enjoyed it and it definitely got me ready for Halloween. I ended up giving this book a 3/5 stars on GoodReads, as I said not my favorite but if you like suspenseful books try this one out!
2. The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

This novel follows a girl named Alice who's grandmother had written fairytales all of her life. Alice has extremely bad luck and is always having to move from place to place One day her grandmother dies on her estate, Hazel Wood and Alice's history of bad luck intensifies. Her mother is then kidnapped and Alice is left with one note to help her reach her mother. This story is definitely one I enjoyed, it got me in the mood for fall and also had the element of story telling within it which I love. If you like fairytales and mystery this is the book for you!
3. Neverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl

It has been over a year since I read this book after it being one of my most anticipated releases. This book follows five friends who reunite after graduation. After they had been out for a night they avoided a head on collision with a car on a deserted road. Only to find that things did not go back to the way they were supposed to. Only one can survive, who will it be? Not only for the eerie description does this book remind me of fall, the story itself is dark and haunting. The description of this novel had me hooked and the story did an amazing job of keeping that feeling going. Definitely pick this book up for your fall reading list!
4. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

After reading this book I went to my brother and told him he had to read this book immediately. Long story short we both loved it. This book follows a boy, Conor, who's mother has been diagnosed with cancer. Conor is prone to terrible nightmares that keep him awake the entire night. In the midst of the horrifying reality that his mother will soon pass away he is visited by a "monster" in the shape of a tree. The monster visits him at night and tells him stories in return for the truth behind Conor's nightmares. This book is beautiful and deals with childhood grief in the most articulate way. I really enjoyed this book and it is perfect for the fall season considering there is a monster in it. This book has also been turned into a movie which I did not have as much of a connection with, but it was still good nonetheless.
5. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

One of my all time favorite books! I could literally talk about this one forever, and it is coming out as a Netflix series! This novel is set in the Grishaverse previously visited in the Shadow and Bone trilogy also by Leigh Bardugo. The story follows a group of outcast criminals who band together to take on a mission. The group is led by Kaz Brekker (probably my favorite book character) who is a convict in the city of Ketterdam. Everyone knows Kaz but no one dares to cross him. Within this novel we have action, suspense, and even romance, what more could you ask for? Within this book we are given six view points which helps to move the story along and also make it impossible to put down! If you like fantasy, action, romance, or suspense you NEED to check out this book. Especially before it comes out on Netflix!
Those are just a few of my favorite fall reads that I have found. If you know any more I should try please let me know, I am always looking out for a great book! All of this books could likely be found at your local bookstore, library, or through amazon if you prefer it. My GoodReads is Hailey Winn if you would like more in depth reviews of the novels listed above!
